Today MindArk announced a before and after screenshot contest which revealed that Entropia Universe's long awaited new avatar creation system will be implemented with the upcoming Version Update (probably VU13) on 22 January 2013.

The system is supposed to massively improve the visual appearance of avatars and add new features like dynamic hair and clothes.

To celebrate the arrival of the system MindArk will host a before and after screenshot contest. EntropiaPlanets joins the celebrations by hosting a player's choice award for the before/after screenshots, meaning the players will vote for a winner. History of the new avatar creation system

31 August 2012 - The system is mentioned MindArk's semi-annual report:

MindArk has also worked intensively on the completion of a new avatar creation system that will make the most out of the CryEngine2 graphics engine. The new avatar creation system will be released in early autumn, and will enable participants to define much more varied and realistic-looking avatars.
